Russian antitrust ready to take NCSP to court over port tariff

MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service is ready to take Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP) to court over rulings regarding tariffs of the Primorsk Trade Port, the service’s director Igor Artemyev told reporters on Tuesday.

In November, the service requested the Primorsk Trade Port cut the price for transshipment of oil from U.S. $2.25 to an economically reasonable level and to covert it into rubles. NCSP CEO Sultan Batov said later that the company is ready to contest the ruling in court.

“We are always ready for that as it is legitimate protection of the company’s interests and they did not agree with our decision. We will go to court, and the court will make a final decision,” Artemyev said.

“But other cases will follow, because with this decision we are opening a whole new array of court disputes on transshipment of cargoes in Russian ports.”

The service may impose a fine of 1–15% of the company’s revenue received on the market where the violation happened if it wins the court battle.
